Hello there friends and thanks for joining me today! Something new is coming from Penguin Palace Stamps on March 20th called Cross Stitched and Dots and I’m featuring it on today’s card! These awesome stand alone dies (available in small and large rectangle overlays) with cross stitch and dot detailing is very versatile and can create a card of any type! Ready to create this fun birthday themed card? Let’s begin!
To start, I used the first, second, and third largest frames from the Penguin Palace Cross Stitched and Dots Small Rectangle Overlays and cut panels with them using Neenah Solar cardstock. Next I layered the three panels (in correct sized order) on top of each other with a bit of runner tape to hold them in place. I used the cupcake image from the Penguin Palace Stamp set My Best Pal and stamped it randomly on top of the stacked panels using Memento ink. While still attached together I used Copic Markers to color the images.
Next I took the colored panels apart and layered each one on top of the Sandstone Series paper in Banana Boat with approximately 1/8″ border all around the rectangle panels. I cut fun foam pieces and backed the smallest and medium rectangle panels.
To put the card together I first used the largest die from the Stitched & Dots Large Rectangle Overlays set and die cut the largest rectangle using a piece of the Sandstone Series in Banana Boat. I then adhered that rectangle overlay on top of the A2 card base. Next I took the largest sized stamped panel and adhered it on top of the card base. I layered the medium sized, foam backed, stamped panel centered on top of the large stamped panel making sure to align the images. For the last foam backed stamped panel I took two small lengths of thin yellow polka dot ribbon and cross crossed them along the front of the panel for added interest. To make the Happy Birthday sentiment stand out I white heat embossed it onto black cardstock then fussy cut the sentiment. I foam backed the sentiment and glued it, centered on top of the crossed ribbon element. Then I took this last stamped panel and adhered it on top of the medium stamped panel aligning the images as well. Of course for a bit of shine I used Wink of Stella on the cupcake tops and liners and with that the card is complete!
These Penguin Palace Stand Alone Die Cross Stitched and Dots are so fun and come in a variety of sizes there are endless possibilities in creating with them! Hope I’ve provided some inspiration and a glimpse of the wonderful creations you can make with these awesome products!
