XOXO

Hello there and welcome back! Who’s ready for that holiday of love? Now that Christmas and New Years have passed its time to shift creative gears and start thinking about all things Valentine’s.

For today’s card I decided to create something simple and sweet. The Penguin Palace Sending Kisses Your Way stamp set features an adorable sleeping hedgehog with equally adorable sentiments. Ready? Let’s start creating!

First thing I did in this card process was create my die cuts. After creating an A2 white card base, I used red textured cardstock and die cut a large size peek-a-boo rectangle for the card border frame and a medium sized scalloped stitched panel for the inside part of the card frame. Next I used letter dies and cut six letter “X” and six letter “O”s and set them aside.

I then stamped the sleeping hedgehog and group of hearts with Memento ink onto Bristol cardstock and used the Penguin Perfect Cuts Sending Kisses Your Way to cut them out. I wanted to keep the colors soft, so I used light earth tones and a variety of pinks for the hearts with Copic Markers. As an added touch of whimsy, I used Versamark ink and the stamped the “XOXO” from the Sending Kisses Your Way stamp set onto the front of the X and O die cut letters.

To create the front panel of the card I first glued the peek-a-boo frame onto the front. To decorate the scalloped panel, I directly glued the X and O letters varying the pattern. I foam backed and adhered the hedgehog onto the center and the group of hearts above him on the right side. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed white onto black cardstock, fussy cut, foam backed, then glued beneath the sleeping hedgehog. I foam backed the scalloped panel then glued that onto the center of the front A2 card base.

For the inside of the card, I cut another piece of pink paper smaller than 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. I stamped and heat embossed the cartoon speech bubble and sentiment “…even in my sleep” in black. Next I used a mini heart paper punched three hearts using red cardstock and created a layered heart with dimension then glued that within the speech bubble. I finally glued the completed pink panel on top of the inside panel and voila the card is done!

This card was so fun to create! Little details made this Valentine’s card special: from the lovely pink colors to the stamped “XOXO” onto the front die cut letters, and the mini dimensional layered heart within the speech bubble. I’m sure the recipient will have a huge smile on their face and feel all kinds of love!

Little details makes it fun!

Hopefully this card jump starts some of your Valentine’s Day card creativity! Thanks for stopping by today and always wishing you have a super crafty day 😊
