Merry Christmas

Hello there friend! Hope you are doing well! Sharing today a simple card I created for the Simon Says Stamps Monday challenge theme Stitch It Up.

As the challenge was to add stitches to your creation, I chose to use dies with faux stitching details on them. First I stamped the penguins and mistletoe images with Memento ink, Copic colored the images, then fussy cut them out.

To make the background for my card, I first chose three coordinating patterned papers from the Pebbles paper pad Merry and Bright. I used the medium sized strip die from the Heffy Doodle Strips of Ease die set, and die cut two strips from the holly pattern, two strips from the candy cane pattern, and three strips from the green sweater patterned paper then set them aside. For the sentiment, I used the largest sized strip die and cut a strip from black cardstock. I stamped the words “merry Christmas” with Versamark then embossed it using Wow embossing powder in white then set that aside.

To create a backdrop for the penguins, I used the medium sized stitched circle die from Poppy Stamps. I glued each penguin onto the inner circle part of the die cut and the mistletoe above them. I also used fun foam to back the circle then set that aside. As an extra design element, I die cut the medium and small stitched heart dies from Sunny Studio Stamps window trio circle dies set.

Now to put the card together. I created an A2 sized card base then glued the seven patterned paper strips alternating between patterns. I took the outer double stitched portion of the Poppy Stamps die set, cut 1/4 of the circle away and glued it on the right side of the card base. I next glued the foam mounted inner circle shape (with the penguins) on top of the empty circle space. I took the black sentiment stamped strip and cut it down to fit the width of the card. I foam backed the strip and aligned it to create a base for the penguins to stand on lol. Lastly I foam backed the stitched hearts and positioned them, alternating in size, cascading down the right side of the card above the penguins.

And now the card is complete! Hope you enjoyed this card as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it. Just a simple idea but it turned out so amazingly cute! Thanks for stopping by and till next time hope you have a crafty day 😊
