Hello friends and Happy Wednesday! Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far. Today’s card is something a bit different. If you know me, my love for mermaids is never ending – so yes, in the middle of winter, I’m still excited to create an adorable card with sweet mermaid friends from Penguin Palace Stamps! Ready? Here we go!
First, I stamped and Copic colored the images from the adorable Penguin Palace Stamps Take A Break (mermaids, sea shell, and star fish) and Let’s Catch Up (shopping mermaid) stamp sets, used their coordinating Penguin Perfect Cuts dies, then set them aside.
Next I die cut the scallop box and it’s coordinating pieces from patterned paper. On the two square shaped pieces I stamped the sentiments “learn to relax you deserve the best” and “sometimes it’s ok to do nothing”. On the right side of the rectangular shaped piece I stamped the sentiment “pamper yourself”. [All sentiments are taken from the Penguin Palace stamp set Take A Break]
After putting the box card shape together it was time to start decorating. On each wave panel of the box I decided to place one mermaid character and hearts. On the first wave panel I glued the coffee loving mermaid to the right and two sets of hearts to the left of her. The middle wave panel I decided make the shopping mermaid “float”. I cut a strip of transparency film 3″x3/4″, glued her to the end of the strip, then glued the acetate strip in the center about the height of the back of the box card back top. Afterwards, I glued two sets of hearts to the left side of the mermaid. On the third wave panel I glued the pizza eating mermaid on the left side and again cut two 3″x 3/4″ strips out of transparency film for two sets of hearts. I glued the heart sets on top of each acetate strip then glued one strip directly to the right of the mermaid and the other heart topped transparency strip on the right side so it can be seen floating above the coffee loving mermaid.
The front sentiment rectangle was finished by gluing the computer mermaid to its left. The square sentiment stamped squares were embellished with seashells and starfishes respectively. To complete the card I used Nuvo drops on the various panels to mimic water droplets and that’s it!
Hope you’ve enjoyed this card! It’s so fun to see these little mermaid friends with big personalities all on one pop up box card! What a great card to give to one of your girlfriends reminding her that “me time” is important too! Till next time, wishing you all a super crafty day 😊
